About SmartBall
SmartBall® is a proven acoustic inspection technology for detection of the leak of pipelines. SmartBall is a free swimming acoustic sensor that is deployed through an existing ball or gate valve, without the necessity of tapping the pipe. The system is capable of inspecting fully charged pipelines of all kind of materials. Its allows the surveying of many kilometers of pipeline of a diameter greater than 250 mm.
The system consists of a foam ball in which an aluminum core of 65 mm diameter is placed. This aluminium core contains the acoustic data acquisition system, power supply and others instruments. The system can operate for up to 17 hours.
The design of this free swimming sensor permits surveying of many kilometers of pipeline in a single deployment. The sensor is capable of pasing through grade changes and valves, and navigating sharp angles and variable pipe diameters. The acoustic sensivity of teh system is unsurpassed.
