About Upus

UPUS® is an ultrasonic measurement system for prestressed bars. It is a cost-effective and accurate tool to measure stress in bars and bolts used in anchorages or cable bands.

A precise monitoring of the actual tension in these bars and bolts is necessary to ensure the safety of the entire structure. On suspension bridges, notably, UPUS® is the appropriate tool to measure stress in bolts on cable bands to verify there is no risk of slippage.

In operating several stress measurement by lift-off traditional method, there is a risk of plastic deformation of the bar, UPUS combines notable improvements on the classical method of stress checking by lift-off to avoid this situation and to save money on this type of work.
